Poetry Corner Week 6 of 6: The Newspaper

THE NEWSPAPER

Clicks of typing, chatter on the floor

Telephones ringing, reporters abound,

Amidst a buzz,

Depth unspoken; undoubtedly profound.

Cups of coffee, like drips all around.

Yet as the clock ticks,

No longer such a flurry

Of men, nor women, in a hurry

To purchase the ‘paper – the ‘Tele,’

Instead lies the new sound  –

Of silence and detachment,

On tablets and screens,

More akin to science fiction

In the sixties. Yet now all around.
